Walking in the Ways of The Lord : The Ethical Authority of the Old Testament (1996)
Christopher J.H. Wright
Inter Varsity Press · Dewey: 241.5
Christians engaged with their contemporary world have renewed their interest in the ethical authority of the Old Testament. In the midst of various and sometimes conflicting approaches to Old Testament ethics, many have found sure footing and satisfying insight in the paradigmatic perspective developed by Christopher Wright's first book, An Eye for an Eye: The Place of Old Testament Ethics Today. Walking in the Ways of the Lord advances that perspective in several ways. Wright first investigates the perennial issues in approaching Scripture's ethical authority. He then considers the various ways in which the church has understood and lived under the ethical authority of the Old Testament, including a survey of contemporary approaches. Related to this are the question of how ethical decisions are made in the Old Testament and the ethical relevance of Israel as a society. Finally, in a series of insightful studies he employs his method by exploring the specific issues of land, jubilee, the state, human rights, and the struggle against corruption, dishonesty and injustice.

Warranted Christian Belief (2015)
Alvin Plantinga
De Gruyter · Dewey: 230.01
This is the third volume in Alvin Plantinga's trilogy on the notion of warrant, which he defines as that which distinguishes knowledge from true belief. In this volume, Plantinga examines warrant's role in theistic belief, tackling the questions of whether it is rational, reasonable, justifiable, and warranted to accept Christian belief and whether there is something epistemically unacceptable in doing so. He contends that Christian beliefs are warranted to the extent that they are formed by properly functioning cognitive faculties, thus, insofar as they are warranted, Christian beliefs are knowledge if they are true. - Publisher.

William G. Dever
Eerdmans Publishing · Dewey: 200
"In this book noted Syro-Palestinian archaeologist William G. Dever attacks the minimalist position head-on, showing how modern archaeology brilliantly illuminates both life in ancient Palestine and the sacred scriptures as we have them today. Assembling a wealth of archaeological evidence, Dever builds the clearest, most, complete case yet for the existence of a real Israel during the Iron Age of ancient Palestine (1200-600 B.C.)."--BOOK JACKET.

When Jesus said to the Jewish leader Nicodemus, "You must be born again," Nicodemus asked in astonishment, "How can these things be?" Some two thousand years later, people are still confused about the term "born again," though more people than ever claim to have had the experience. In this booklet, Dr. R.C. Sproul cuts through the confusion and carefully explains what it means to be born again. Dr. Sproul affirms that the new birth is essential for salvation and goes on to show that this regeneration is a sovereign work of God in our hearts. The Crucial Questions booklet series by Dr. R.C. Sproul offers succinct answers to important questions often asked by Christians and thoughtful inquirers.

What Has Christianity Ever Done For Us? (2005)
Jonathan Hill
IVP · ISBN: 0-8308-3328-5 · Dewey: 270
Honored in 2006 as a "Year's Best Book for Preachers" by Preaching magazine. What has Christianity ever done for us?What value is there in seeking to preserve its influence today? In this book, Jonathan Hill answers these questions with some questions of his own. For instance, why do we seal wine bottles with cork? Where did musical notation come from? How did universities get their start? And why was the world's first fully literate society not in Europe, Asia or North America? As Hill tells the story of the centuries-long entanglement between Christianity and Western culture, he shows the profound influence that Christianity has had--from what we drink to how we speak, from how we write to how we mark the seasons. Employing a rich, narrative style packed with events and people and illustrated throughout in full color, he describes the place of Christianity both in history and in the present day. What Has Christianity Ever Done for Us? is an enlightening and often humorous tour of culture and thought, the arts, the landscape, education, society, spirituality and ethics, and social justice. Here is a rich, entertaining and informative read.
